Reach is the single largest source of trustees in the UK: charities appointed 1,387 trustees through us in 2025 alone. Our pool of prospective trustees has a wide range of expertise and is strikingly diverse - 60% of our community are under 40, and 50% from ethnic minorities.

Our standard recruitment service
Our unique service combines three approaches to support you to find trustees: advertising, proactive search and sharing to partner networks.
Advertising: Post your trustee role through Reach, and we’ll share it with our community of over 10,000 volunteers, who bring a wide array of skills, expertise and experience. Your role, including your logo and link to a profile about your organisation, can be shared on Reach for up to six months. It’ll be included in a weekly alert about new opportunities to volunteers with relevant interests.
Proactive search: search for volunteers who have the skills and experience you need, and encourage them to apply. You can also set up an alert so that when new volunteers join who match your search criteria, we’ll let you know.
Sharing to partner networks: we have a unique combination of partnerships with sites including LinkedIn, Escape the City and Rest Less will share your opportunity, so your trustee role will be seen by a huge audience.
Posting a role is free for most small and medium-sized organisations.

Does it cost to post trustee opportunities on Reach?
Trustee recruitment (including governors) is free for charities or educational bodies with an income under £1m and for other eligible organisations with an income under £250k. For larger organisations, we ask for a contribution for recruiting trustees. We also offer an enhanced option that includes all of the benefits of our standard package, plus additional support and advertising. Find out more about when and what we charge.

What opportunities are allowed on Reach?
We only accept opportunities that:
- require three or more years professional experience in one of our skills areas
- are unpaid
- are based in the UK
- are not overly burdensome on the volunteer, for example, line managing paid staff or requiring more than 15 hours a week.
We do also accept opportunities specifically for trustees with lived experience of your cause, either with or without specified professional skills. Find out more about how we review roles.
How can I contact people on Reach?
To contact a volunteer you must first have a live volunteer or trustee opportunity. If you’re new to Reach, you’ll need to register and create a profile for your organisation. You can then post an opportunity. Before publishing, our service team will review your role to make sure it meets our criteria. We'll be in touch if we have any questions, or to confirm that it's been published.
Once your role is live, you can search for volunteers and use the 'Contact volunteer' button on their profile to ask them to apply to your role. Read more about how recruitment works on Reach.
What services does Reach offer to boost recruitment?
You can boost your trustee recruitment using either our enhanced self-service option - avaialble when you use our online platform - or by working with our team of trustee recruitment experts, TrusteeWorks.
Our enhanced package is an add-on you can purchase when adding a trustee opportunity to the Reach platform. When you select this option, a member of the Reach team will upload your role to five additional job sites and volunteering boards - tailored to the audience you're looking for. We'll also do a search of the Reach platform on your behalf, and suggest your opportunity to suitable candidates. Find out more about our enhanced offer.
