About me

After more than 25 years as a senior legal professional — most recently as an international Deputy General Counsel and Global Compliance Director — I’m looking to put my experience to good use for charitable organisations.
My career has spanned mobile telecommunications, fintech, IT distribution, banking and private practice, giving me broad exposure to complex commercial environments across multiple jurisdictions. I’ve led and developed legal and compliance teams, sat on management teams, executive leadership teams and boards, and advised on a range of legal issues at the highest levels of global businesses. I know what good governance looks like from the inside, and I understand the pressures that senior leaders face.
Beyond the purely legal, I’ve always been drawn to the human side of the job. Mentoring and coaching colleagues — helping people grow in confidence and capability — has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I’m also highly organised and genuinely enthusiastic about technology: I’ve built dashboards, AI tools and other practical resources to make legal functions work smarter, not harder.
My voluntary experience includes serving as a school governor at a local primary school, where I contributed to strategic oversight and governance in a very different context to my day job — a reminder that good judgement and clear thinking translate across sectors.
I’m looking for a trustee, board or legal advisor role where I can offer real strategic value: whether that’s helping a charity navigate governance, contracts or compliance, or simply being a trusted sounding board for a leader who needs experienced counsel. I have a particular soft spot for animal welfare causes, but I’m open to working with organisations across a range of missions — what matters most is that my skills make a genuine difference.

What am I looking for?

I’m keen to work with organisations where experienced, senior legal and compliance expertise can make a real difference — whether that’s a charity navigating governance challenges, managing risk, or simply needing a safe pair of hands to review contracts and advise on legal exposure.
Ideally, I’m looking for trustee or board positions where I can contribute at a strategic level: helping shape direction, strengthen governance frameworks, and ensure the organisation is on solid legal and regulatory ground. I’d be equally well-suited to a dedicated legal advisor role, working closely with a CEO or leadership team who need trusted, commercially-minded counsel without the cost of external lawyers.
I’m particularly interested in organisations working in animal welfare, but I’m genuinely open to causes across the board — what draws me is the opportunity to contribute meaningfully, not a narrow brief. If you lead a charity that’s growing, going through change, or simply needs someone who has seen it all before and can help you think clearly, I’d love to hear from you.
Beyond purely legal work, I’d welcome roles that draw on my broader skills. I have a strong track record of mentoring and coaching individuals, and I’d find real satisfaction in supporting a charity leader or in-house legal professional who wants an experienced sounding board. I’m also enthusiastic about using technology to help organisations work more efficiently — if you’re looking at how AI tools, dashboards or smarter processes could strengthen your legal or compliance function, that’s a conversation I’d genuinely enjoy.
Having spent my career working across international businesses in telecoms, fintech, banking and IT, I’m comfortable operating in complex, fast-moving environments — but I’m equally at home in smaller organisations where one person’s contribution can have an outsized impact. In many ways, that’s exactly where I want to be.
I’m looking for something substantive — a role where I can commit properly and where my involvement makes a real difference, rather than a light-touch advisory position. If you think there’s a fit, please get in touch.
