TWOCO UK
Our objectives
For 16 years, our Christian led charity has been a trusted sanctuary for disadvantaged women. Our beneficiaries include refugee and asylum seeking women and children, global majority women and families, survivors of domestic violence or sexual abuse, lone parents, pregnant mothers, widows and orphans. We support women from many cultures and nationalities as they navigate the challenges of settling into a new country -finding work, securing housing, assessing healthcare services, and maintaining their cultural identity. With a dedicated team of multilingual interpreters, we ensure language is never a barrier to receiving help they need. Our mission is to help empower women to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and a strong sense of belonging.
We provide support that is practical, holistic and person centred support, we provide a safe, welcoming community space where women can connect, share and rebuild making new friendship, we provide interpreting and language support so women can communicate confidently in essential services, we provide guidance on housing, employment, education and healthcare, helping them navigate complex systems.
Our organisation matters because refugee and global majority women face unique barriers -language discrimination, trauma and cultural displacement. Without support, many struggle to access basic services, which can lead to isolation, poverty long term disadvantages. Our organisation restores dignity, helping women not to survive but thrive. We strengthen families and communities, to preserve cultural identity allowing women to integrate without loosing who they are.
Our organisation fills the gap that many mainstream services cannot -offering compassion, cultural sensitivity, and practical help rooted in faith, respect and empowerment.
Our activities
We provide a warm non-judgmental space where women of diverse backgrounds can connect, grow and feel supported. Our weekly drop in coffee mornings, skills development workshops, and sewing classes help build confidence and community.
We run a Blessing Babies Bank project offering essential items such as nappies, wipes, toiletries and baby clothing to mothers in need. Alongside this our Cultural Foodbank project supplies cultural food parcels to disadvantaged women and families experiencing financial hardship.
Our beneficiaries representing many nationalities -are passionate about cooking and through our partnership with YMCA we help prepare community meals for up to 400 people strengthening community bonds and cultural diversity.
We are now seeking committed trustees who share our vision of empowering women, reducing hardship and building a thriving inclusive community.
