Objectives

1.   The Textile Conservation Foundation (TCF) exists to support education and research in textile conservation and, wherever possible, to support activities more widely within The Kelvin Centre for Conservation and Cultural Heritage Research at the University of Glasgow.

2.   TCF raises funds to provide bursaries to support MPhil Textile Conservation students from across the world in order they can afford the fees to attend this intensive prestigious 2-year course.

3.   TCF has helped fund those graduates of the MPhil course who now work in some 40 countries.  Their impact and influence, whilst hard to quantify, might however be measured by their employment in heritage institutions large and small across the world, as well as increasing numbers establishing highly-regarded specialist textile conservation businesses.

4.   The MPhil training at the University of Glasgow is recognised as the leading course globally specialising, as it does, solely in textiles for the two-year duration of a student's studies.

Activities

1.   In order to provide adequate bursary support, income is raised through TCF investments and a part-time Consultant is employed to raise additional funds to supplement investment income.

2.   Trustees meet 3 times a year and one meeting is dedicated to consideration of bursary applications and the extent of the award made to each individual.
