Our objectives

Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) supports community-led development in rural Tanzania. Our objective is to help communities turn their own ideas into practical projects through small grants and ongoing support.

We focus on education, clean water, and income generation—areas consistently identified by communities as key priorities. Rather than designing projects ourselves, we fund locally driven initiatives, ensuring they are relevant and sustainable.

We work through volunteer Local Representatives in Tanzania and Project Officers in the UK, combining local knowledge with careful review. Projects are monitored during and after delivery to ensure accountability and learn what works.

We are a small, volunteer-led organisation focused on steady, practical impact.

Our activities

TDT funds small, community-led projects across rural Tanzania.

Communities apply for support with help from Local Representatives, whose proposals are reviewed by volunteer Project Officers before being approved by our Committee, based on careful funding criteria.

Projects are funded thanks to the tireless work of our fundraising and media teams, whilst our 100% volunteer-led model with zero overheads keeps costs low and maximises funds reaching projects.
