Help Tanzania Development Trust review its ageing project database and identify the best long-term solution.

We are looking for someone who can assess our requirements, recommend appropriate platforms or approaches, and potentially help us implement a replacement system.

What will you be doing?

Tanzania Development Trust currently uses a bespoke database to manage the development projects we support across Tanzania. The system stores project information, funding records, updates, documents and reporting data, but has evolved over many years and no longer fully meets our needs.

We are looking for a volunteer to review the current system, help us define our requirements, and recommend the most appropriate future solution. This could involve evaluating existing platforms, CRM systems, low-code tools or bespoke approaches.

Ideally, we would like someone who is interested not only in advising on options, but also in helping us move towards implementation, whether through configuring a platform, building a prototype, or supporting the development of a replacement system.

Our goal is a practical, reliable and easy-to-use solution that will help a volunteer-led charity manage around 100 projects per year more effectively.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with experience in databases, CRM systems, information management, business analysis or digital transformation.

The ideal volunteer will be able to understand how our current system is used, gather requirements from non-technical users, evaluate possible solutions and recommend a practical way forward.

We would particularly welcome applications from people who are interested in helping implement a solution as well as advising on options.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can combine technical knowledge with a practical, common-sense approach suitable for charity use.

What difference will you make?

Tanzania Development Trust is run entirely by volunteers and supports around 100 community-led development projects in Tanzania each year. Our project database is central to this work, helping us track applications, funding decisions, project progress, reports and outcomes.

A more effective system would save volunteers significant administrative time, improve access to information, and reduce the risk of important knowledge being lost as volunteers change roles. It would also improve our ability to monitor projects, generate reports, and demonstrate impact to donors, funders and supporters.

The volunteer's work will help us identify a sustainable long-term solution that matches the needs and resources of a small charity. Whether that involves improving our existing system or implementing a new one, the outcome will be a more reliable and efficient way of managing project information.

Ultimately, this will allow volunteers to spend less time wrestling with systems and more time supporting the projects and communities we exist to serve.

Before you apply

Applicants who fit the bill will be invited to a video call with one of our team for an initial review.

It may help to do some brief research into our organisation and what a charity needs from a project management tool.
