Bite-Size Video Editor

We need a small pool of video editors to convert our raw rootage from projects in Tanzania into social-media ready video by adding titles, logo, subtitles... it's up to you.

Simple and clean is great, but creative flair is very welcome.

What will you be doing?

We receive raw video footage from our projects in Tanzania and we need it turned into something polished enough to share on social media.

We're looking for a small pool of editors (2–3 people) so the ask is light on any one person. When footage arrives, we'll share it with the pool and see who's free to take it on. Turnaround is one week from receiving the files.

What the editing involves:

  • Adding a title card and our logo
  • Adding subtitles if necessary (transcript provided)
  • Basic colour and sound tidying if needed
  • Exporting in a social-media friendly format

That's the baseline, but if you enjoy more creative work, we'd genuinely love you to go further. Bold graphics, motion titles, atmospheric edits: if that's your thing, don't hold back!

Practicalities:

  • Requests are ad hoc and unpredictable - you won't hear from us for weeks, then several clips might arrive
  • You're never obligated to take on a particular edit if the timing doesn't work
  • Videos are typically short (under 30 seconds)
  • You'll work independently, with a named contact at TDT for any questions

Any editing software is fine.

What are we looking for?

You need at least 3 years' experience with your software of choice, including:

  • Use of titles, logos and subtitles
  • Good time management
  • Understanding of non-destructive editing
  • Basic colour correction and audio tidying is a bonus but not essential

The right fit for this role:

  • Comfortable with an irregular, as-needed commitment
  • Able to work independently
  • Reliable when you do take something on
  • Happy to work with minimal briefing and use your initiative
  • Able to deliver within the turnaround time

Creative flair is genuinely welcome. If you enjoy motion graphics, bold typography or atmospheric edits, don't rein it in on our account. But equally, clean and simple is absolutely fine!

What difference will you make?

Video is increasingly central to how donors and supporters engage with charitable causes. But raw footage, however powerful, rarely speaks for itself. Without basic editing, it can look unpolished and fail to reach the audience it deserves.

Having a small, reliable pool of editors we can call on transforms what we're able to do.

This role directly supports our fundraising and communications, which in turn supports everything else we do.

For the right volunteer, this is also a chance to see the direct results of their work, playing a genuine part in funding grassroots change in Tanzania.

Before you apply

To apply, please provide a link to some of your work - it doesn't have to be a professional portfolio, just a YouTube or media link is fine.

We will review applications as they arrive, and arrange an informal video call with anyone who looks like a good fit, to make sure you're happy with what's involved before we add you to our pool.

There is no fixed start date, but we would love to have people ready to go as soon as possible.
