Objectives

Onewig Onesmile exist to promote and protect the physical and mental health of people experiencing medical hair loss, in particular but not exclusively Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) group who have lost their hair through cancer treatments or other illnesses and medical conditions, by the provision of free human hair wigs and hair pieces

Activities

We offer different range of wigs for all ethnic backgrounds. Although we provide a unique service for the BAME people, this is because it is a service currently not offered within not-for-profit organisations in the UK and alot of women within this group finds it difficult to access wigs that are suitable for their hair type and style. We believe that suitable wigs should be offered regardless of race, in order for the recipient to feel as natural as possible during a potentially difficult time. This requires access to a range of darker colours, and the option of hand tied cornrow or single plaits to give a unique choice of style. Our braided wigs are all made with 80% Human Hair, with added hair extensions, which are very light & comfortable to wear.

According to NHS website, 'if you're a black or minority ethnic patient with hair loss, you may need to find a wig that suits you from a specialist wig store.

Your nurse or specialist can tell you where you can find suppliers', this is why we created an inclusive service to benefit the BAME amongst other ethnic groups.
