Our primary beneficiaries are local people in very densely- populated city area featuring poverty, displacement and deprivation. We manage a closed Cemetery as a local nature reserve, public green space and a heritage asset. We mount, facilitate and foster events and other initiatives to draw people in to enjoy the Cemetery Park, learn, and progress their lives in a positive way. We have been awarded the Octavia Hill Award (for connecting children with nature), the Observer Ethical award (wildlife category) and Time Out Love London - as well as having achieved designations for the site, in order to safeguard its future.
We manage the site for people and wildlife and heritage. We support a sister organisation in the Cemetery Park to deliver curriculum nature classes to 7,000 schoolchildren annually. We set up and fill popular volunteering opportunities for 2000+ volunteers annually including for people who have experienced homelessness, mental illness, isolation substance abuse and crime. We mount over 120 free events annually to draw people in to connect and enjoy the space as well as fee-charging courses as part of our long-term aim for sustainability.
