Exam Star Learner is an educational charity, providing high-quality, affordable Maths, English, Science and French tutorials to underachieving, disadvantaged children and young people in the London borough of Southwark.
We are on a mission to tackle the lack of access to personalised and cost-effective home learning support for disadvantaged 5–18-year-olds, ensuring they receive the necessary support to fulfil their educational potential and have increased life chances.
The target beneficiaries of Exam Star Learner are underachieving, disadvantaged children and young people aged 5–18 residing in the London borough of Southwark. These students come from low-income backgrounds and face challenges in accessing quality, cost-effective home learning support.
In Southwark, 43.1% of children live in poverty, which hinders their academic success. A significant proportion of the most disadvantaged children lack necessary homework support, exacerbating educational disparities.
Also, the contrast between pupils from affluent households, who receive considerable homework assistance and private tuition, and those from low-income backgrounds perpetuates educational inequality and social mobility obstacles.
Our charity's personalised and genuinely affordable English, Maths, Science and French tutorials aim to bridge the attainment gap for disadvantaged, underachieving children and young people and empower them to fulfil their educational potential, breaking the cycle of poverty, and fostering a more inclusive community.
