    What will you be doing?

    Location: Remote (Zoom and occasional face-to-face meetings)

    Job Type: Volunteer, Finance/Governance

    Salary: Unpaid, expenses covered

    Treasurer is a volunteer role with potential Board of Trustees membership. RfPUK has a part-time Finance Officer and engages an accounting firm and Independent Examiner. The Treasurer ensures financial governance, strategic planning, and risk management.

    Treasurer's Role:

    Strategic Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate on financial planning, reporting, and monitoring with the Chair and Finance Officer.
    • Advise on organisational strategic planning.
    • Ensure resource alignment with strategy and advise on financial implications.

    Financial Responsibilities:

    • Provide regular budgetary and financial information to the board.
    • Identify and communicate financial risks.
    • Scrutinize proposed budgets, forecasts, and reports.
    • Ensure financial resources meet current and future needs.
    • Oversee external auditors and contribute to annual audit.
    • Mentor and support the Finance Officer.

    Governance Responsibilities:

    • Ensure the board fulfils financial governance duties.
    • Advise on financial implications and operational risks.
    • Keep the board informed on financial duties.

    Specific Tasks:

    • Oversee daily bookkeeping and payment setup by the Finance Officer.
    • Advise on the investment portfolio managed by a financial management company.
    • Regularly review and monitor the reserves policy.
    • Contribute to the preparation of Annual Returns for the Charity Commission.

      Requirements: 

      At least 5 years of UK charity law experience.

    • At least 5 years of UK charity law experience.
    • Knowledge of financial regulations governing charities and companies.
    • Able to commit sufficient time to the role and work of the organisation.
    • Team player.
    • Ability to think strategically and forward plan.
    • Commitment to the cause of peace and the work of RfPUK.
    • Ability to digest, present and critically evaluate a range of information, including written reports, statistics and verbal communications.
    • Ability to act as an ambassador for the RfPUK.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
