To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Investing in the lives of young people is what we're all about. We are looking for an individual to join our team to continue the careers support we provide to young London residents.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer fundraiser, you’ll be crucial in helping The Skills Spot secure funding to support our mission of empowering young people in Lambeth. You will identify and apply for grants, build relationships with corporate sponsors, and create fundraising strategies. Your efforts will help expand our reach and increase our capacity to deliver high-quality mentoring, coaching, and career support services.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching and applying for relevant grants and funding opportunities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with potential corporate partners
  • Developing and executing fundraising campaigns
  • Collaborating with the CEO and other workers to create strategic fundraising plans
  • Tracking and reporting on fundraising progress

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic individual who is passionate about youth development and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong background in fundraising, with experience in grant writing and corporate partnerships (at least 3 years' experience)
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • A commitment to our values: Connection, Collaboration, Consistency, Celebration
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people

In addition to the above, we will be looking for people who:

  • Possess an understanding and awareness of the importance of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults
  • Are committed to anti-oppressive practice, underpinned by an understanding and promotion of equality and diversity
  • Understand the importance of monitoring and evaluating to measure youth work impact
  • Are aware of the current challenges young people and young adults face in society, specifically in employment

We are keen to hear from those who live in or in close vicinity to Lambeth, where our centre is based; however, this is not a requirement.

Please note: this role requires a basic DBS check to be conducted, a confidentiality agreement to be signed, and data protection training to be completed, due to access you will have to sensitive data.

What difference will you make?

As a new community interest company, we are underresourced when it comes to personnel. We want to expand the services we deliver while still maintaining the quality of support we provide so that we can increase the number of young people we can have in our building.

our fundraising efforts will directly impact our ability to expand our services, allowing us to reach more young people and provide them with the skills and support they need to succeed. By securing funding, you’ll enable us to continue making a positive impact.
