Managing email alerts and opportunity suggestions
Everyone signed up to the Reach platform agrees to receive certain emails as a condition of using the service.
If you are a volunteer, these include notifications about your applications, reminders about your profile, and very occasional service updates.
If you are an organisation, these will include emails about your account, your applications, opportunity posts, and occasional service updates. These are mandatory, and the only way to opt out of receiving these is to close your Reach account.
Organisations and volunteers can also choose to receive email alerts with suggestions for volunteers or roles that meet your search criteria, sign up to our monthly newsletter, and if you are a volunteer, be contacted about roles you might like to apply for. These emails are optional, and can be managed as below.
Email alerts for saved searches
Everyone can save searches and subscribe to weekly email alerts when new volunteers or opportunities are added that match your criteria.
You can manage these alerts in your dashboard by going to the bottom left of the menu, and clicking Searches and alerts.
Switching weekly email alerts on and off
In Searches and alerts, under each saved search you will see whether alerts are switched on or off. To change this, click on Edit Search & alerts, select your preference between On and Off, and click Save.
Deleting your saved search
If the email alerts you receive based on your saved search are no longer relevant or you would like to receive new alerts, you can delete the saved search by clicking on the Delete icon, and/ then Run a new search for opportunities and set up a new alert.
Volunteer Profile Match
If you are a volunteer with a profile, you will automatically have a saved search that is based on the skills, causes, role types and availability that you have selected in your profile. This is called your Profile Match search. As with other saved searches, you can switch these on and off.
The Reach newsletter
You can sign up to, or unsubscribe from, our newsletter by going to Manage Account and editing your account details under the My account details tab.
You can then select or deselect the option titled: ‘I would like to receive Reach news and other information from Reach related to skills based volunteering’.
Receive suggestions for volunteer opportunities
As a volunteer with a profile, you can receive email suggestions for opportunities that may be of interest to you sent directly from registered organisations, or Reach. These suggestions are based on your profile’s visibility. You can choose from the following options:
- Public: Your profile will be visible in our searches and organisations will be able to suggest roles to you.
- Private: Your profile will be hidden from search, so organisations cannot suggest roles to you.
