Your Financial Wellbeing
Our objectives
Your Financial Wellbeing exists to support people who are struggling with money, debt, and the emotional strain that comes with it. Our main beneficiaries are families, and individuals most at risk of financial crisis — people who often fall through the cracks of traditional services because of stigma, fear, or a lack of accessible support.
Many of the people we help are working hard but still can’t make ends meet. Rising living costs, insecure work, and housing pressures mean that even small changes — a broken appliance, reduced hours, or a missed bill — can push families into crisis. The stress of debt affects every part of life: mental health, relationships, and confidence.
Our support matters because it treats people as humans first, not case numbers. We don’t just talk about money — we talk about wellbeing, resilience, and dignity. By combining compassion with innovation, YFW helps people move from crisis to confidence, creating a fairer, more humane approach to debt and financial wellbeing across communities in Scotland.
Our activities
YFW supports people through three connected strands:
- Debt Guidance – providing trauma-informed, ethical, and practical support that helps people understand their rights and options, manage their debts, and regain a sense of control.
- Workshops & Training – delivering accessible, plain-English financial wellbeing sessions for individuals and partner organisations, building financial confidence and reducing stigma.
- Tech for Good – developing ethical digital tools, which help people to understand complex debt letters in plain English and other languages, reducing fear and confusion.
