Our objectives
FORWARD supports Black, African, and racially minoritised women and girls, with a particular focus on those affected by violence against women and girls (VAWG), including harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and spiritual or ritual abuse. Many of the women we support are migrants, refugees or have insecure immigration status, including those with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). We also work with faith leaders, youth, and community-based women leaders to strengthen prevention and protection strategies.
Our activities
- Policy and Legal Advocacy
- Provision of specialist emotional support, advice and counselling, available in multiple languages,
- Educational workshops and community outreach events:
- Leadership development for young women and community champions
- School Engagement
- Professional Training, providing OCN-accredited training to frontline staff.
- Evidence based research: conducting participatory research to inform policy and practice.
