Volunteer Fundraiser for Women's Charity

We are looking for a motivated, passionate and experienced Fundraiser to support FORWARD's Fundraising and Communications team. This role requires someone with practical experience in donor engagement, fundraising operations and strategic communications to support our stewardship work. 

What will you be doing?

FORWARD is and African women led organisation working to end violence against women and girls. We are in the process of building a new fundraising team and keen to recruit an experienced volunteer to support the Fundraising Manager to  help strengthen relationships with existing supporters and individual donors by helping to maintain high-quality donor data, donor communication and  strengthen our fundraising campaigns and events. 

The key skills we desire in the person will include the following

  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Beacon or similar)
  •  Donor engagement
  • Interest in or knowledge of gender equality, human rights, or global development
  • Experience supporting events or campaigns 
  • Experience in fundraising and bid writing.

The key priorities for this role will include the following: 

1. Donor Communications & Supporter Engagement

  • Draft engaging and personalised email communications for individual supporters
  • Support the development of effective supporter journeys to improve donor engagement and retention
  • Produce compelling, donor-focused content aligned with FORWARD’s voice and campaigns

2. CRM & Donor Data Management

  • Maintain and update donor records within FORWARD’s CRM system (Beacon)
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with GDPR and data protection standards
  • Support data entry, segmentation, and reporting
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and well-organised donor database

3. Fundraising, Stewardship &  Communications Support

  • Support proposal and bid writing
  • Support stewardship matters and help to build strong and meaningful relationships with individual donors and supporters.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for fundraising campaigns and events
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of donor engagement activities
  • Support content development for campaigns and wider communications
  • Conduct basic research to identify potential donors, partners, and opportunities.

We are looking for someone with the following skills set:

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donor audiences
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Interest in fundraising, communications, or the non-profit sector
  • Good digital skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, email platforms; willingness to learn new systems)
  • Experience of using CRM systems (e.g. Beacon or similar)
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to FORWARD’s values, including gender equality, safeguarding, and anti-racism

What are we looking for?

FORWARD is seeking an experienced fundraising volunteer with over 3 years working with the charity sector and passionate about social and gender justice and women's rights.  We are keen to hear from especially women volunteers who have strong written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donor audiences and use our experiences to tell our story and impact.

Some of the key skills and experiences that we are interested in include the following; 

  • Someone who pays great attention to detail and has great  fundraising and organisational skills to improve our bid writing
  • Good digital skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, email platforms; willingness to learn new systems)
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to FORWARD’s values, including gender equality, safeguarding, and anti-racism

Additional desirable skills that we will want from the volunteer will include

  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Beacon or similar)
  • Interest in or knowledge of gender equality, human rights, or working with migrant women and communities.
  • Experience supporting events or campaigns and using story telling to share our work.

What difference will you make?

FORWARD has very dedicated individual donors, but we are also very keen to grow our donor and supporter base and your fundraising support will enable us to increase the team capacity to help strengthen our fundraising work including securing unrestricted income to support growing demand for our services from vulnerable women affected by multiple forms of abuse. This role will help ensure we can continue to respond better to the urgent needs of women and help transform lives and build resilient women and girls who need our support and services. 

As a charity working on violence against women and girls we have seen huge demand in our work and we need to access core funding to be able to respond effectively to women in need.

Specifically the role will enable FORWARD to: 

  • Improve our supporters and individual donor journey through better and more innovative and impactful communication
  • Identify innovative ways of engaging supporters and donors and developing stronger relationship building and outreach action
  • Better use of our CRM systems to enable us streamline donor management and improve reporting and efficiency
  • Support fundraising campaigns, and supporter engagement events 
  • Strengthen our existing donor portfolio through research 
  • Prepare and present fundraising resources including development of case for support, innovative videos and resources.
