Embracing Age
Our objectives
Embracing Age is a Christian charity working towards a world where older people are valued, connected and full of hope by combatting loneliness, mobilising volunteers, equipping churches and speaking out. Our areas of focus are:
1) Befriending elderly care home residents
2) Supporting informal carers
3) Equipping churches in their work with older people
Our activities
We recruit, vet and train volunteers to bring companionship to care home residents. Volunteers visit weekly doing activities with individual residents that build relationship and bring enjoyment. This could be anything from simply chatting, going for a walk, gardening, playing a board or card game, reading aloud, giving hand massages - the list is endless.
We also facilitate a weekly zoom meeting for informal carers, in which they chat and pray together and build friendship with one another.
We run a series of webinars for churches on developing their strategy for older people, coming alongside people living with dementia, supporting informal carers and being a blessing to care home residents.
