Our objectives

The Elizabeth Heyrick Society is dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the legacy of Elizabeth Heyrick, a notable Leicester abolitionist.

Through various initiatives, including educational programs, public events, and the establishment of a memorial, we strive to raise awareness about Elizabeth Heyrick's significant contributions to the abolitionist movement. By highlighting her achievements in organising consumer boycotts of slave-produced goods and advocating for immediate abolition, we aim to inspire future generations to take action against injustice and exploitation.

The impact of our work extends beyond the commemoration of Elizabeth Heyrick's legacy. By honouring her memory and promoting awareness of her activism, we contribute to a broader conversation about human rights, social responsibility, and the ongoing struggle for equality. Our efforts empower individuals to recognise the power of grassroots activism and collective action in effecting positive change in society.
