Clothing Collective
Our objectives
With 22% of the UK population living in poverty and 7% of those in persistent poverty, a significant number of people cannot afford adequate clothing, and that includes both people whose hardship is visible and the many more whose isn't. Clothing is one of the least addressed dimensions of poverty, even though charity shops across the country already hold large volumes of donated clothing in good condition and at affordable prices. We connect that existing supply with the people who need it, providing vouchers they redeem at charity shops for clothing they choose for themselves.
Our activities
We partner with third-party charities such as food banks, homelessness charities, local community organisations and others. We provide them with our vouchers so they can identify those most in need and distribute the vouchers to be redeemed at charity shops in exchange for clothes.
We also partner with charity shops where our vouchers are accepted in exchange for clothes. This not only provides clothing to those most in need, but, in turn, when the vouchers are redeemed and repaid to the charity shop, it also provides the charity shop’s cause with additional funding.
