Our objectives

Change The Youth NW is a Greater Manchester based charity supporting children, young people and families by creating opportunities, removing barriers and helping every young person have the chance to thrive.

We support young people up to the age of 18, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Many of the young people we work with face barriers including financial hardship, disability, social challenges, low confidence, lack of opportunity or limited access to positive activities and support.

Through youth programmes, educational activities, mentoring, residential experiences, digital skills sessions, volunteering opportunities and community projects, we help young people build confidence, develop new skills, improve wellbeing and become more independent.

We also provide practical support to families and work alongside community partners to respond to local needs, ensuring support reaches those who need it most.

Our work matters because every young person deserves to feel valued, supported and able to achieve their potential. We believe a young person’s circumstances should not limit their future, and by creating safe, inclusive and accessible opportunities we help young people develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed to thrive

Our activities

Change The Youth NW delivers support through five core areas:

Youth development and positive activities
Providing youth sessions, holiday programmes, workshops and recreational activities that give young people safe spaces to meet others, build confidence, develop new skills and take part in positive experiences within their community.

Skills, education and personal development
Delivering learning opportunities including mentoring, digital skills, volunteering opportunities and development programmes that help young people improve confidence, independence, employability and aspirations for the future.

Inclusion and removing barriers
Creating accessible opportunities for young people who may face challenges due to disability, SEND, financial hardship, social circumstances or lack of access to activities. We work to ensure every young person feels welcomed, valued and able to participate.

Community support and wellbeing
Supporting young people and families beyond activities by responding to community needs, including practical support for families experiencing hardship and projects that improve wellbeing, connection and resilience.

Partnership and community engagement
Working with schools, local organisations, community groups and partners including Greater Manchester Police and Bolton Council to deliver targeted support, create safer communities and increase opportunities available to young people.
