SSAFA's support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Air Force and their families, this also includes anyone who has completed National Service. SSAFA helps the Armed Forces community in a number of ways, though our focus is on providing direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care. This could include addiction, relationship breakdown, debt, homelessness, post-traumatic stress, depression, disability and poverty. SSAFA is committed to helping our brave men and women overcome these problems and rebuild their lives.
The needs of serving men and women and the veterans are becoming more diverse as the world and military landscape changes, so we work hard to make our service as flexible as possible. We constantly adapt them to fit with people we support and what they need. This means we can offer everyone we work with a range of tailored services to help them navigate life in and beyond the military.
SSAFA has five strategic aims to deliver its objectives, these are
Understanding need: We will ensure we understand and adapt to the needs of those we support.
Delivering consistent and effective support: We will alleviate suffering and distress by providing appropriate, timely and effective support.
Sustaining our resources: We will ensure we have people with the right skills and sufficient time to deliver our services, underpinned by a sustainable income.
Raising our profile and strengthening our brand: We will strive to be recognised, known and understood.
Growing collaboration: We will work together within the organisation and with external partners.
