We are a self-funding branch of the RSPCA. We raise money locally to fund our animal welfare work to prevent cruelty, promote kindness and rescue, rehabilitate & rehome animals in need in our branch area of SW11 1-3, SW15 1-6, SW18 1-5, SW19 1, SW19 3-8, SW20 0, SW20 8-9, SM1 1-4, SM2 5-7, SM3 8-9, SM4 4-6, SM5 1-4, SM6 0, SM6 7-9, KT4 7-8.
We're run by a committee of volunteers and rely heavily on donations, legacies, fundraising and profits from our two charity shops. We don't currently have an animal centre, instead we rely on local foster homes to take in the animals we rescue. We have a two-person team of frontline animal welfare staff.
We supply several local foodbanks with pet food to help people in our area through the current crisis and have been actively supporting these schemes throughout the pandemic. We also run a welfare assistance scheme to help pet owners who may struggle to neuter, chip or treat their animals.
Our TNR (trap, neuter, release) programme continues to run at all times to tackle stray and feral cat colonies in our area, and we often assist the Inspectorate teams with local cases, transporting and rehoming animals.
We run two busy and successful charity shops within SW18, these are our main source of funding along with our eBay shop and other online sales methods (ie. facebook martketplace). We also regularly review other ways to increase funds so that the branch can reach it's objectives. Our committee holds monthly meetings to discuss ideas, knowledge share and review governance and have an active voice at the Regional Boards that take place.
Each branch is assigned a BPM (branch partnership manager) who supports and advises us on national matters so that the branch remains up to date.
