The Peak & Northern Footpaths Society promotes the interests of the public who use footpaths, bridleways, and other rights of way. We are a registered charity, and all our work is done by volunteers.
We inspect, protect, and improve the public rights of way network for the benefit of all.
Whether you are a rambler, a stroller, a fell walker, a dog walker, or horse rider, we work on your behalf to keep this fantastic rights of way network open and accessible.
Inspect: Our team of over 100 volunteer footpath inspectors regularly walk footpaths and other rights of way checking for problems and reporting them to the responsible local authority. We also monitor proposals affecting rights of way. Local authorities in the region are required by law to inform us about all such proposals.
Protect: We work with local authorities to get footpath problems resolved as soon as possible. We investigate planning proposals and respond to them to ensure that the interests of walkers are taken into account.
Improve: We erect signposts and bridges and fund other improvements to help walkers. There are hundreds of our signposts and dozens of our bridges in the region, and more are being added all the time.
We are seeking to appoint a Treasurer to our board of Trustees. The treasurer will lead on financial management of the Society. We welcome...
