Objectives

Mindful Surrey supports people of all ages with their mental health and overall wellbeing. We work with individuals and businesses. Our sessions are delivered as live, online classes through Zoom, or in-person in Surrey and Sussex. People come to our sessions for help with a specific issue like anxiety or bereavement, or simply to increase their ability to live well and find greater ease and joy in life. Businesses use us to support their staff; besides boosting productivity, mindfulness in the workplace helps create a happier and calmer atmosphere.

Our mindfulness training helps people deal with things such as stress, anxiety, depression, parenting, relationships, physical pain, addictive behaviours and sleep difficulties.

People are finding mindfulness particularly helpful at the current time, and they like being part of a supportive group. There has rarely been a time when so many people are struggling with their mental health, in their work and home lives, and facing immense challenges. Mindfulness can make a huge difference to the way we live and it is fantastic that mindfulness training works so well online.

Catherine is a fully qualified mindfulness MBSR teacher, experienced at working with individuals of all ages and with businesses.

Activities

We run the 8-week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, weekly drop-in sessions for beginners as well as those with more experience, and courses for schools and businesses.

It is important to us that no one is excluded from mindfulness training because they cannot afford it, so we offer discounted or free sessions to anyone in financial need. We are currently fund-raising so that we can offer more bursaries in the future, especially for young people and older people. We have been asked to run courses in four local schools and colleges and our fund-raising is also to enable us to lead these courses.

Current opportunities

We are looking for someone to raise funds so we can offer free mental health support to people on low incomes in the UK.
