The family support charity that helps build better lives for the children in our local community. Activities

At times, being a parent can feel like the hardest, loneliest job in the world. It can be frustrating, heart-breaking, and overwhelming. And all parents struggle at one time or another. However, for some, the challenges can be greater.

Our trained volunteers can offer support that’s geared towards individual family’s needs in their own home for between two and four hours a week to offer an extra pair of hands or a listening ear. We help them to recognise and build on their own strengths and increase their confidence, so we’ll work with them to focus on those things they feel they’re struggling with most.

Here are just a few of the things we can help with:

  • Establishing routines for little ones and their home.
  • Strengthening relationships between adult family members and their child or children.
  • Improving children’s physical and emotional health.
  • Improving parent’s physical and emotional health.
  • Learning new parenting skills — we’ve got some great tips and tricks!
  • Feeling less lonely and isolated by recommending local services and groups.
  • Reducing stress from family conflict.
  • Meeting other people who are in the same boat by helping you make new connections.

The support we give is totally non-judgmental; it’s simply compassionate, confidential and as individual as the people we work with and support. You can also be reassured that our time with you will remain confidential.

Plus, we also run 8 nurturing family groups a week offering a safe and welcoming environment. We’re friendly and inclusive and are there for all sorts of parents: whether it’s postnatal depression, mental health problems or simply struggling to cope. Parents and children alike can meet new friends, gain new skills and improve your confidence.
