Our objectives
Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a global network of nonviolent direct action volunteers dedicated to addressing the climate and ecological emergency.
Our aim is to awaken society to the scale of the emergency and demand bold action from governments and institutions.
Our 3 demands are :
Tell The Truth
All institutions must communicate the danger we are in. We must be clear about the extreme cascading risks humanity now faces, the injustice this represents, its historic roots, and the urgent need for rapid political, social and economic change.
Act Now
Every part of society must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025* and begin protecting and repairing nature immediately. The whole of society must move into a new precautionary paradigm, where life is sacred and all are in service to ensuring its future.
*When XR was launched in 2018, 2025 was a realistic date, seven years in the future, with plenty of time to do what was needed. We keep this target to show how much time has been lost.
Decide Together
We demand a culture of participation, fairness and transparency. The Government must create and be led by a Citizens’ Assembly on Climate and Ecological Justice. Only the common sense of ordinary people will help us navigate the challenging decisions ahead.
With over 1,100 groups in more than 60 countries, XR's decentralised model of activism has successfully shifted the conversation around climate change.
Extinction Rebellion UK works to help raise awareness and call for urgent change in the United Kingdom. There are groups in towns and cities across the country; these Local Groups welcome people to take part in campaigning actions and support them as we face the climate emergency.
Anyone who takes action in pursuit of XR's three goals and adheres to its ten principles & values can claim to act in the name of XR.

Our activities
Extinction Rebellion UK supports peaceful Nonviolent Direct Action which aims to raise awareness at the governmental level and across our communities about the urgency of taking action on the climate crisis.
The organisation is run as a self-organising system which relies on the work of volunteers in all areas including: strategy, action planning, media and messaging, digital, fundraising, recruitment, administration, finance, and collaboration with other environmental organisations. We believe in regenerative cultures where everyone is cared for and welcomed.
We are recruiting for people to join Extinction Rebellion in all of these areas both nationally, regionally and locally in the volunteer groups that operate across the UK.
Each new person is vital in helping to grow the effectiveness and impact of the movement in our campaigns for Climate Justice.
