Objectives

EVC Uganda supports some of the poorest children in the world in southern Uganda in an area decimated by AIDS, malaria, cholera, and typhoid where there is malnutrition, grinding poverty, no running water or electricity. Many children are orphaned or abandoned.

EVC provides an education through individual child sponsorship where they have the opportunity to learn and develop skills and receive hope for the future. EVC sponsored schools operate within a  loving and supportive Christian environment. A child that receives such an educational opportunity is 50% more likely to survive and flourish than a child who does not receive this chance.

All money donated to individual child sponsorship goes directly to support the children, nothing is taken out for administration. EVC is run and managed entirely by volunteers, there are no paid staff. We also raise money for additional projects such as the provision of water bore holes, extra school dormitories and classrooms and for materials used in the schools.

Activities

EVC Uganda in the UK raises funds and markets the organisation to a wide variety of people and organisations for support through contacts with churches, schools, businesses, seeking partnerships with other organisations and in having a presence in a variety of community public events. We also develop our work through a variety of media contacts. We have a very good website and logo and are actively developing our opportunities with social media.

People view EVC as an extremely well run charity with a highly respected professional image which reflects the enormous success of our first year of operations.

Once a year Trustees will visit our work in Uganda to assess and monitor the quality of the education provision to poor children and to ensure our work is properly managed and controlled and the funds spent as designated.
