Objectives

Birmingham Community Matters (BCM) boosts the development of micro and small voluntary and community groups in and around Birmingham.

Our peer learning network inspires people into action and gives them spaces to share, as equals, their skills, knowledge and experience.

In Birmingham, there are many people and groups that wish to have an impact on their community, but may require support or information to get started or to develop their activities, secure funding or manage what they do.

BCM offers free, face to face peer support to help to identify next steps for their micro or small group. We work mainly with volunteer led groups with the equivalent of one full time staff member or less.

Activities

We run informal events in local community spaces across Birmingham where people can meet and give and gain support to run their group or activities.

We also offer one to one support via Zoom calls, where we match people needing support with an experienced volunteer who can share their experience and knowledge.

We have a bank of resources and information to share with people to support their next steps.

We run training workshops both face to face and online around topics relative to a small and micro group success, such as choosing a structure, planning projects, starting with fundraising, managing finances and setting budgets, monitoring projects and much more!
