Website Manager Volunteer (WordPress)
Do you want to use your skills to make a real difference? We're looking for an enthusiastic IT Volunteer to help manage our website.
You'll play a key role in keeping our systems secure, reliable and effective, helping us build the capacity to support disabled children and families.
What will you be doing?
As our IT Volunteer, you'll play a key role in helping Flamingo Chicks maintain a secure, reliable and effective digital environment.
Your main responsibilities will include managing and maintaining our website by adding, editing and updating content, identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting cyber security best practice, and helping to protect the charity from emerging digital threats.
You'll also contribute to business continuity by helping ensure our systems remain resilient and fit for purpose.
You'll work closely with our existing Website Volunteer and our small core team, providing additional capacity and expertise as our charity continues to grow.
Together, you'll help keep our digital infrastructure running smoothly, enabling our team to focus on delivering life-changing opportunities for disabled children, and children living with illness such as cancer.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with experience of managing and maintaining WordPress websites who is confident keeping a site secure, up to date and running smoothly. You'll have a good understanding of website maintenance, including updating themes, plugins and core software, and be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
Alongside that, some front-end UX/UI knowledge would be valuable to help keep the site user-friendly, and an understanding of website accessibility would also be really important to ensure the site continues to be inclusive for everyone.
You'll be comfortable following web development best practices and coding standards where appropriate, with knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP an advantage.
An understanding of cyber security best practice and website accessibility is important, helping us protect our digital assets while ensuring a great user experience.
Above all, we're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, stays up to date with emerging technologies and security risks, can work collaboratively with our existing IT volunteer and small team and is passionate about using their technical skills to support the work of a growing charity.
What difference will you make?
Our website is at the heart of Flamingo Chicks, connecting families, supporters, funders and partners with our work.
As our charity continues to grow, we expect even more people to rely on our website for information, support and opportunities to get involved.
It's essential that our site is secure, reliable and continues to evolve to meet their needs. With cyber threats becoming increasingly sophisticated, we need the right expertise to help protect our digital presence, safeguard our data, and ensure our website remains a trusted and engaging resource for everyone who relies on it.
