Please help us to build our website! We have a detailed outline of the structure, potential content and design, and function of our website, and need someone to build it.

We then need training on uploading onto the website.

What will you be doing?

We want you to build our website. While we hope you will work on your own most of the time. you will have constant access to two HOWL members who will discuss the basic structure of the site, and explain what we need the site to do. They will also offer guidance  and support as required. You will also be invited to join HOWL online meetings, which are held every two weeks to discuss progress on the website.

  • Expertise in web design, development and in programming to build a new site.
  • Create a site which is ‘user friendly’ so it can be amended when needed, and create a template so that women with a basic understanding can upload stories.
  • Give us training on how to upload stories onto the website and how to change website content if required.

What are we looking for?

A volunteer who will work with us to build up the HOWL website, and who will be flexible to build in additions to the site. We also hope they will offer their suggestions and insights on how to improve the look and feel of the site.

  • As we are also hoping the site will display images of activities from the 1970s/80s, someone will a visual flair would be an added bonus.
  • We want to ensure that the website is mobile friendly.
  • At the end of the project we need the person to train us on how to upload items onto the websit.e

What difference will you make?

You are a vital part of our project to create a history of the women’s movement by collecting the memories of those who were closely involved. Without your input the project cannot succeed! You will contributing to the history of social movements which changed the late 20th century. You also have an important role in training women with new web skills.
