We’re looking for a people-focused Volunteer Manager to help us recruit, onboard and support volunteers across The SNF. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong teams, creating simple processes that work, and making volunteers feel valued and supported.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage volunteer recruitment and onboarding (including welcome calls, induction and role matching)
  • Help define volunteer role descriptions, responsibilities and expectations
  • Coordinate volunteer training, buddying and support systems
  • Provide ongoing volunteer check-ins and support (including wellbeing and performance conversations where needed)
  • Support volunteer scheduling and internal coordination with trustees/leads
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records (basic HR-style admin)
  • Support volunteer policies, conduct expectations and escalation routes
  • Help improve volunteer retention, engagement and recognition

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in volunteer management, HR, recruitment or people operations
  • Confident communicator who can manage sensitive conversations professionally
  • Strong organisation and follow-through (you don’t let things drift)
  • Able to create simple systems and processes without overcomplicating things
  • Comfortable working in a growing charity/start-up environment
  • Good judgment and a calm, fair approach when issues arise
  • Able to handle confidential information appropriately (GDPR awareness)

What difference will you make?

You’ll help ensure volunteers are properly supported, trained and retained — which directly strengthens the Foundation’s ability to deliver mentoring and opportunities to people who need it most. You’ll make the charity more resilient, consistent, and professionally run.
