Our objectives

The Safety Net Foundation CIC (SNF) is a UK-based social enterprise established to advance opportunity, inclusion, and professional development within the health, safety, and risk management sectors. Our mission is to support individuals—particularly those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, underrepresented groups, or people seeking career transitions—by providing access to mentoring, skills development, volunteering, and professional networks that help them achieve sustainable careers in health and safety.

We believe that talent and potential exist everywhere, but opportunity does not. The Safety Net Foundation was created to close that gap by offering a structured, practical, and supportive platform for aspiring professionals to gain real-world insight, develop confidence, and build meaningful connections within the sector.

Our activities

SNF connects people and purpose. We act as a bridge between experienced health and safety professionals, industry organisations, and individuals seeking support to enter or progress within the profession. Through our programmes, we:

  • Provide mentoring and coaching: Matching mentees with qualified health and safety professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to share experience, build confidence, and guide career progression.
  • Offer volunteering and practical experience: Partnering with charities, community interest organisations, and social enterprises that need short-term or pro bono health and safety support, giving mentees hands-on opportunities to apply their learning while making a real difference.
  • Deliver learning and development initiatives: Hosting webinars, panel discussions, and skills-based workshops focused on professional practice, personal growth, and employability.
  • Promote inclusion and accessibility: Advocating for fair access to training, professional accreditation, and career opportunities within the health and safety field—regardless of background or financial means.

Our model combines social value with professional development. By helping individuals gain experience and confidence, we simultaneously help charities and small organisations strengthen their own health and safety standards, improving wellbeing and resilience across communities.
