We are looking for a Member for our Midlands-based Multi-Academy Trust of special schools. Sitting at the top of the Trust’s governance structure, you will act as guardian of our Trust's governance in a time of growth. 

What will you be doing?

Members hold the Trust Board to account for the effective governance of the Trust but have a minimal role in the actual running of it. 

Members will:

  • Appoint members and trustees 
  • Appoint and remove the auditors 
  • Receive a copy of the annual report and accounts
  • Meet at general meetings

What are we looking for?

Academy trust members should have: 

• governance knowledge and experience 

• a good understanding of the charitable aims of the organisation 

• a willingness to take action if the need arises 

What difference will you make?

Holding the Trust Board to account is the most important role that Members play. The Members will do this in a hands-off manner, through monitoring the work of the Trust Board. This is done by examining the annual report and accounts, hearing directly from the Board of Trustees at the AGM and receiving any additional updates or information during the year.
