Marketing/Social Media Trustee Role
As our Trustee, you will be the voice of the "Canopy" team (our Trustee Board). Reporting into our Chair of Trustees, you will be the strategic architect of how we reach new communities, inspire the next "Natural Champions," and demonstrate our ecological impact to funders.
What will you be doing?
- Set the Strategy: Build a digital roadmap that takes us from a local project to a national movement.
- Tell our Story: Help us translate complex ecological data and social "outcomes" into inspiring content.
- Provide Governance: Attend quarterly board meetings and offer ad-hoc expert advice to the leadership team.
- Amplify our Impact: Support the growth of our habitat-mapping app and digital community.
Advocate: Work with our Founder and Trustee Board to ensure Natural Neighbours is a leading voice in urban rewilding.
Tasks:
- Strategic Communications: Lead the development of a marketing and digital strategy that aligns with our Theory of Change and Five-Year Goal.
- Brand Stewardship: Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, positioning Natural Neighbours as a thought leader in urban rewilding and community-led nature recovery.
- Digital Presence Oversight: Advise on the growth of our social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, X) to showcase "Habitat Hotspots" and celebrate our "Natural Champions."
- Campaign Advocacy: Support the "Pollinators" (engagement) and "Collectors" (fundraising) teams in creating compelling digital campaigns to drive volunteer recruitment and donor support.
- App Promotion: Develop strategies to increase the adoption and user engagement of the Natural Neighbours habitat-mapping app.
- Public Relations: Identify opportunities for press coverage and speaking engagements for the Founder/Director to share our "Spotlight Species" framework.
What are we looking for?
Who you are:
- A seasoned pro in Marketing, Social Media, or PR (we love both corporate and creative backgrounds!).
- Someone who understands the power of a "virtuous comms spiral"—how a single post can lead to winning hearts and minds. That means more volunteers, more bees and better mental health for residents.
- A strategic thinker who can guide a small, passionate team on best practices.
- Committed to equity and inclusion, ensuring our message reaches everyone, especially in nature-deprived areas.
Skills & Qualities:
- Marketing/PR Expertise: Significant professional experience in marketing, social media management, communications, or public relations.
- Storytelling Ability: A talent for translating complex ecological data and social outcomes into inspiring, human-centric stories.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to think long-term about how digital presence contributes to our "Virtuous Spiral" of ecological and social renewal.
- Collaborative Spirit: Comfortable working with a diverse Board of Trustees and providing mentorship to staff or volunteers managing day-to-day posts.
- Commitment to Diversity: Understanding of how to use inclusive communication to reach "nature-deprived" urban areas and diverse demographic groups.
What difference will you make?
- Shape a Movement: Influence the public narrative around urban rewilding and the importance of nature for community wellbeing.
- Professional Impact: Use your skills to help a growing charity move from a local pilot to a recognised national model.
- Networking: Join a dedicated team of environmental experts, community leaders, and governance professionals.
Nature Connection: Directly contribute to the recovery of "Spotlight Species" and the greening of London’s urban corridors.
