Are you passionate about sustainability? Do you want to make a real impact on household carbon footprints and waste and promote sustainable living? Join our innovative crowd-sourced app development team and help us scale up public climate action and environmental protection.

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for UK‑based volunteers with expertise or experience in reducing domestic and personal environmental impacts.

’ll work with a small remote team to capture or generate specific and actionable ideas to help people make household carbon, waste or water savings, or cut use of plastic and pollutants, linked to lifestyle choices.

You’ll be helping to scale up our impact on climate change and sustainability in one or more of these roles:

  • Originator: Generating or otherwise contributing household sustainable living ideas or tips
  • Researcher: Researching and developing further supporting information and references for these
  • Curator: Monitoring and reviewing entries to ensure quality and compliance, identify gaps in provision and prioritise R&D tasks.

You’ll be part of growing dedicated team developing an extensive knowledge base that will power our innovate E‑Save app - to inform, inspire and enable a broad cross-section of the population to make sustainable lifestyle choices.

Your ideas, experience, knowledge or research abilities will help develop robust, realistic practical actions that people can take, ensuring the E‑Save app has a broad spectrum of content and suggestions to help people make an impact.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking volunteers with experience in identifying, creating, or making lifestyle choices of taking actions that reduce carbon, waste, water or other environmental impacts, or researching and developing these within a knowledge management framework.

Originator: You will need to have a good specific or broad understanding of the types of actions people can take in their daily life, and/or be an idea or content creator. A passion for helping people take practical sustainable/climate actions would be an advantage.

Researcher: You’ll research ideas, develop accessible content, and record references and sources to ensure each action can be measured. You’ll need a methodical approach, attention to detail, and, preferably knowledge and experience of designing or making environmentally orientated actions/changes. You will be comfortable working with MS365 and Excel, and preferably SharePoint Lists or other data management systems.

Curator: You’ll will need first hand or good working knowledge of sustainable practices in one or more aspects of daily life, for example, gardening, re-using, cooking, food waste, energy saving hacks, household products, water saving etc.  You’ll need a methodical approach, attention to detail, knowledge and experience of designing or making environmentally orientated actions/changes. You will be comfortable working with MS365 and Excel, and, preferably, SharePoint Lists or other data management systems.

For all roles:

You’ll:

  • Have the ability to work independently within a remote team and contribute on a regular basis.
  • You’ll enjoy researching practical aspects of lifestyle and behaviour change in relation to the environment and share these ideas with the team.
  • Have basic IT skills
  • Ideally have lived experience and awareness of one more aspect of household management and of the practical advice that will help people need to make informed choices.

You do NOT need an environmental or sustainability qualification - enthusiasm or experience is more important than academic ability.

What difference will you make?

Your insight and expertise in helping people to take small steps on an accumulative basis to reduce household or personal carbon and other environmental impacts are at the heart of the E-Save app.

Your vital contribution will help ensure the app delivers actionable advice to the public, and result in real environmental impacts.

You will be at the forefront of innovation, bringing climate action into people’s homes across the UK, making sustainable living part of everyday life.
