This role will support Wandering Emotions CIC in securing vital funding to grow our work. This includes researching and identifying suitable grant opportunities and working closely with the Director to prepare and submit high-quality grant applications.

What will you be doing?

The key responsibility of this role is to support the organisation in securing funding by identifying and applying for suitable grant opportunities. This includes researching relevant funders, tracking application deadlines, and maintaining an organised pipeline of opportunities.

Working closely with the Director and wider team, you will help develop high-quality, persuasive grant applications by clearly communicating the organisation’s projects, outcomes, and impact. A key deliverable is the production of well-structured funding bids that align with funder priorities and deadlines.

You will also contribute to shaping a consistent funding narrative, ensuring that messaging across applications is clear, compelling, and aligned with the organisation’s mission.

This role sits within a small, collaborative team, where you will work both independently and alongside others. Priorities include identifying the most relevant funding opportunities, supporting the development of strong applications, and ensuring submissions are completed to a high standard and on time.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer who has experience or a strong understanding of grant applications and bid writing, with the ability to identify suitable funding opportunities and support the development of compelling proposals. Strong written communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as the role involves producing clear, persuasive content tailored to different funders.

Our ideal volunteer is organised, proactive, and able to manage deadlines effectively. They should feel comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with the Director and wider team.

Experience within the voluntary or community sector would be beneficial, particularly an understanding of how to communicate impact in areas such as mental health and community support. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated to make a difference and can contribute to strengthening our funding opportunities through high-quality applications.

What difference will you make?

This role is vital to our next stage of growth. With the right support, we aim to:

  • Build a financially sustainable CIC
  • Create paid opportunities for volunteers
  • Expand our services and community reach
  • Develop a scalable and resilient business model

Your input will directly influence how quickly and effectively we can grow and increase our impact.

Before you apply

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal online interview with the Director. This will be a relaxed conversation to discuss your experience, ideas for the role, and how we might work together. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions about the organisation and the role.

We aim to review applications on a rolling basis and respond within 1–2 weeks of receiving them. Interviews will be arranged flexibly to suit availability.
