- Helping plan and schedule content
- Supporting awareness campaigns, awareness dates, remembrance initiatives, and educational resources
- Creating a Press Contact List and writing press releases
Key Priorities:
The main priorities of the role are to help Gracie’s Way build a supportive online presence, reach more people who may need support, and communicate our mission clearly and compassionately.
Deliverables:
- An agreed number of social media posts
- Ideas for campaigns or content themes
- Support with developing a consistent and caring brand voice with involvement and contribution to Strategy documents
- Optional simple graphics, reels, or visual content depending on skills and interest
This is a flexible volunteer opportunity that can largely be done remotely and around existing commitments.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a compassionate, creative, and reliable volunteer who is passionate about helping others and interested in using digital content to support a meaningful cause. As Gracie’s Way is a pet bereavement project, empathy and sensitivity are especially important qualities for this role. We would value someone who understands the emotional impact of losing a beloved pet and can communicate in a thoughtful, supportive, and respectful way.
Our ideal volunteer will have an interest in content creation, storytelling, copywriting or journalism, and social media engagement. They should feel comfortable creating content for platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, including writing captions, developing post ideas, and helping maintain a consistent online presence. Experience creating engaging digital content, whether through volunteering, personal projects, education, or professional work, would be beneficial.
Strong written communication skills are among the most important qualities for this role. We are looking for someone who can write clearly, warmly, and compassionately while adapting their tone to sensitive topics surrounding grief and emotional wellbeing. Creativity and initiative are also highly valued, as we welcome volunteers who can contribute fresh ideas for awareness campaigns, educational posts, remembrance content, community engagement, and wider public awareness initiatives.
Experience or an interest in campaigning, marketing strategy, public relations, or social media marketing would be highly valuable. We welcome volunteers who can help increase awareness of Gracie’s Way, develop creative campaigns, identify opportunities to reach new audiences, strengthen community engagement, and support the project's long-term growth through effective communications and digital marketing.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools would be helpful. Experience using tools such as Canva, scheduling platforms, analytics tools, or simple video and graphic editing software would be an advantage, although this is not essential. We are open to volunteers with varying levels of experience, including those looking to develop their skills further in a supportive environment.
As Gracie’s Way is currently an early-stage and developing project, we are particularly looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable contributing within a small team environment. The volunteer should be able to work independently, manage tasks responsibly, communicate openly about ideas and availability, and contribute strategically to the project's communications and marketing activities.
The most important qualities for this role are empathy, creativity, reliability, initiative, and a genuine passion for supporting others. Formal qualifications are not required. We care far more about finding someone who aligns with the values and mission of Gracie’s Way and who wants to make a positive impact through compassionate communication, storytelling, and awareness-raising.
This role would suit someone interested in social media, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, campaigning, community projects, mental wellbeing, animal welfare, or the charity sector. It may also appeal to individuals with lived experience of pet loss who feel motivated to help create support and awareness for others going through similar experiences while helping to grow the reach and impact of Gracie’s Way.
Please note, Gracie's Way requires you to have a minimum of three years experience in the skills mentioned.
