About me

I am a finance, grants and compliance professional with more than 24 years of experience working with international NGOs, development organisations and humanitarian programmes across Africa. Throughout my career, I have supported organisations funded by donors such as USAID, FCDO, the Global Fund and UN agencies, helping to ensure strong financial management, accountability and compliance. My roles have included working with organisations such as the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime, International Youth Foundation, Pact World, Oxfam, World Vision and CARE International.

In addition to my professional experience, I have always enjoyed supporting community-focused and development initiatives. Much of my career has involved working alongside programme teams, local partners and communities to strengthen organisational capacity and improve the impact of projects that benefit vulnerable people.

My professional skills include financial management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, governance, risk management, compliance monitoring, auditing, stakeholder engagement and team leadership. I am highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented. Personally, I am dependable, trustworthy, adaptable and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds. I have strong communication skills and take pride in supporting others and contributing positively to a team environment.

Outside of work, I have a strong interest in community development, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods. I enjoy learning new skills, meeting people from different backgrounds and finding practical ways to contribute to the wellbeing of communities.

I would like to volunteer because I believe in giving back to the community and using my skills and experience to make a positive difference. Volunteering would allow me to support worthwhile causes, meet new people, contribute to my local community and continue developing personally while helping others. I am particularly motivated by opportunities where I can use my organisational, administrative and people skills to support individuals and organisations that are making a meaningful impact.

This opportunity would also allow me to gain valuable experience in the UK community sector while contributing my professional expertise and commitment to helping others.

What am I looking for?

I am particularly interested in causes that support community development, education, youth empowerment, poverty reduction, health and wellbeing, and sustainable livelihoods. Having spent much of my career working with organisations that deliver development and humanitarian programmes, I am passionate about initiatives that help individuals and communities improve their quality of life and achieve greater self-sufficiency.

I am also interested in environmental sustainability, food security and community-based projects that promote social inclusion and support vulnerable groups, including young people, older adults and disadvantaged families.

In terms of volunteer roles, I would be happy to contribute in a variety of ways. My professional background equips me to assist with administration, finance, budgeting, project support, governance, compliance and organisational development. However, I am equally willing to take on more hands-on community roles such as mentoring, supporting events and fundraising activities, helping with community outreach, providing practical assistance to service users, or supporting charity operations.

I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and would welcome opportunities that allow me to use both my professional skills and my personal commitment to helping others. My goal is to contribute positively to an organisation's mission while learning from new experiences and making a meaningful difference in the community.
