About me

I am currently the Chief Executive of the Digital Poverty Alliance.  My role includes extensive programme management, stakeholder engagement (including partners such as Currys, Amazon and Intel), governance, operations, strategy development, policy/communications work and GDPR/data protection.  Prior to this I was the CEO of a small membership body, the British Interplanetary Society, which is based in London.  My role included governance, strategy development, creating partnerships, merchandising, marketing, web development and building management.  Both roles have been working with very small teams, including a large volunteer body.

Until 2020 I was based for six years at a royal college in central London, heading the President's office and leading on governance, compliance and ceremonial matters, where I was used to dealing with Boards and senior individuals at the top of their professions.  Previously, I worked for an Academy sponsor and philanthropist, where I managed a range of projects, including organising high profile events (with celebrities and royal figures), report writing, communications and stakeholder engagement.  Here my work mainly related to education and young people, through community cohesion initiatives which aimed to reduce poverty and disadvantage within isolated communities in the UK.  In both of these roles I have been used to managing teams and budgets.  I also have experience managing and motivating volunteers, and bringing people together.  I am used to communicating with the media, using social media and getting the message out.

I have also volunteered for a charity engaged in international affairs - where I particularly focussed on governance related matters and fundraising, and organisations dealing with environmental and animal welfare issues in which I have a lifelong interest.

In 2011, I won the Real Business Magazine Women of the Future - Public Services - Award at a ceremony presided over by HRH Princess Anne.

I hold a Masters in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs, a Bachelors in International Relations, and a Diploma in the Common Law.  I am also PRINCE2 qualified.

What am I looking for?

I am looking for a role which will allow me to use my charity background to support smaller charities and initiatives.  I am keen to use my communications and organisational skills, whilst also bringing my strong understanding of governance and strategy development to the organisation.  I hope to volunteer actively - rather than simply attending quarterly meetings, I would relish the chance to lead 'real' work with my own portfolio of projects.
