We operate from City Centre premises in York that are rented on a long term lease from the City of York. The Society employ ten members of staff and numerous dedicated volunteers. To achieve our aims we:

• Raise awareness about sight loss and related issues among relevant agencies and organisations, and the general public

• Provide practical support for visually impaired people including an Equipment & Information Centre, two Eye Clinic Liaison Service based at York and Scarborough Hospitals, and our busy home visiting service

• Offer social and emotional support via a wide range of peer support, leisure and learning activities to increase people’s confidence and wellbeing

• Seek to ensure the voice of visually impaired people is heard by those who make policy and decisions that affect our members’ lives.
