The Warren House Group at Dartington (WHG) is a registered charity in England and Wales, and separately in Scotland, and a registered Company Limited by Guarantee since 2002. We trade through our social enterprise subsidiary-Dartington Service Design Lab - a company limited by a single share wholly owned by the WHG. This builds upon the legacy of the WHG’s previous trading organisations (e.g. the Dartington Social Research Unit).
The objectives stated in the charity's memorandum and articles are:
Our purpose as an organisation is to use evidence and design in innovative ways to help those working with children and young people to have a greater impact,and improve the lives of children, families and communities.
We do this by:
• Working with organisations and public systems that are willing to try new things;
• Collaborating with leading scientists and researchers;
• Fusing science-based and user-centred design approaches applied to public systems and services;
• Experimenting and sharing our methods, failures and successes along the way.
Our new strategy is focussed on three areas:
Innovations in Evidence – we will develop, and support others to use innovative methods to generate and use evidence to learn and improve. Our methods include rapid-cycle design and testing, system mapping and modelling, and the integration of design into research.
Evidence for Equity – ensuring equitable and anti-racist approaches to the generation and use of evidence.
Evidence in Action – working in long-term committed partnerships we will develop and implement strategic and collective impact initiatives to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Championing Evidence – we will share our methods and learning to encourage others to adopt and further develop innovative methods for learning and improvement.
