Do you love the Arts?  Do you want to help artists with their mental health?

Our newly formed CIO Board is looking for a fundraising Trustee to advise and help with our initially modest needs to deliver funding from different sources for proactive mental health workshops and subsidised counselling sessions for the dance world across all genres.

STEPPS offers the UK danceworld:

  • Support
  • Training
  • Education
  • Psychotherapy
  • Performance
  • Solutions

STEPPS Founder Terry Hyde MA MBACP, who had a career as an elite dancer performing at the highest level, and is now a psychotherapist, delivered hundreds of free counselling sessions to both student and professional dancers from 2020 onwards. There is a growing need in supporting dancers' mental health, and our purpose is to face the challenges now and in the future, including the making of a documentary film.

During lockdown over 1000 counselling sessions were offered free to the dance profession across all genres - these artists were largely unsupported by the government as they are freelance, could not work and had the most stressful time of their lives. We will be training First Aiders to go into schools, ballet and dance companies etc., to deliver workshops on mental health in one of the most rigorous and demanding professions there is.  The Founder Terry Hyde in in the process of setting up the CIO with a full dance and mental health related Board and a number of volunteers doing research, marketing and social media.
