We are a member-led charity supporting blind and partially sighted people living in Ryedale, North Yorkshire. We provide activities, information and assistance to support the changes and challenges which are a result of sight loss.
Our network of support, activities and friendship helps to alleviate the social, emotional and practical problems arising from sight loss. Through our regular social and activity groups, we enable our members to overcome the isolation and sense of exclusion often experienced as a result of the loss of sight.
Our members can choose to take part in fortnightly In-Touch groups which gives them the opportunity to meet up with old friends as well as making new friendships. The group also allows them to connect with partner organisations via speakers and information drop-ins. Our Ramble and Chat group offers a leisurely stroll around local villages from May to September and every fortnight we have a gentle exercise class delivered by a qualified fitness instructor. In 2016 we introduced a technology group to support those members who are wanting to keep up to date with devices which use assistive technology, such as iPhones, iPads and Android tablets/phones. All our activities are accessible to anyone with a visual impairment and are fully supported by our team of excellent volunteers.
