The Sara Lee Trust
Our objectives
The Trust is an independent local Charity that aims to improve the quality of life of people living with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses (and their families and carers) in Hastings and Rother (East Sussex), through the provision, free of charge, of Psychological and Counselling support, Complementary therapies, and Therapeutic group activities. The Trust is the dedicated provider of Counselling and Therapy services for patients of both St Michael’s Hospice (since 1996) and the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital (since 2007).
The Trust provides care for almost 1,000 local people a year, delivering over 6,000 hours of therapy.
The Trust’s aims are to:
- develop capacity to fully meet local need and reduce local health inequalities
- deliver care in the most appropriate setting for the patient and at a time that best meets their needs
- ensure long – term sustainability of our services
Our activities
The Trust provides the following specialist services:
- Psychological Support – inc Specialist Counselling, EMDR, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and couples counselling
- Coaching support for a more active social and work life
- A range of Complementary Therapy services including: Acupuncture / Aromatherapy / Dry Needling / Massage / Reiki / Reflexology / Shiatsu
- Weekly and monthly therapeutic groups (including healthy cooking, mindfulness, specialised yoga and nature based support groups).
- Regular programme of educational events / sessions
- A range of other support groups e.g. recovery, families, carers, mens, hosted service user led groups and online groups
All services are delivered in accordance with local and national guidelines and patient data maintained on a recognised clinical system operating within the NHS digital framework.
