Our objectives

Founded in 1881, RSPCA Leicestershire Branch, has been helping animals in need for over one hundred years. From 1975 we have been based at Woodside Animal Centre, on Scudamore Road. We provide vital care to the animals in need across Leicestershire, Peterborough and Rutland alongside educating the public about animal welfare.

Our activities

RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre works to meet its objectives by providing care and shelter to animals in need, promoting animal welfare, and preventing cruelty. Specifically, it does the following:

  1. Rescue and Rehabilitation: The Animal Centres rescue animals that are neglected, abandoned, or in dangerous situations. Once rescued, they provide medical treatment, food, and shelter, working to rehabilitate the animals and prepare them for adoption.
  2. Adoption Services: They offer animals for adoption to suitable, loving homes. This ensures that animals that can be rehomed are given the opportunity to live happy, healthy lives in new environments.
  3. Animal Welfare Education: The RSPCA promotes public awareness and educates the community about animal welfare issues, responsible pet ownership, and the prevention of cruelty to animals.
  4. Support for Pet Owners: The RSPCA also provides advice and support to pet owners, helping them with issues such as animal behavior, health, and other welfare concerns.

Through these actions and more the RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre contribute significantly to improving the lives of animals and ensuring that their welfare is safeguarded.
