Dual regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Plane Saver was founded in 1993 by a group of British Airways Engineers. They had a passion to provide a range of ethical saving schemes and affordable loans to their colleagues.

Since launching Plane Saver has become one of the largest Credit Unions in the UK and is delighted to have won ‘Best Credit Union (South) at the ’Consumer Credits Awards in 2020.

In 2010 we expanded our field of membership to offer the service to additional Airlines and transportation industries, including Air Canada, Air Tanker, American Airlines, Avios and United Airlines.

In 2015, with the support of the Ministry of Defence, Plane Saver launched our service offer to HM Armed Forces Personnel. Recently new members from the healthcare, engineering, and distribution/logistics sectors have been welcomed as Plane Saver continues to seek new payroll partners.

Plane Saver now serves over 17,500 members and has lent over £100m to members employed in, or associated with: –
The Airline and Transport Industry, Logistics, Engineering, Healthcare, Police, Fire and Ambulance Services and the The Armed Forces.

We are committed to supporting members throughout life’s ups and downs, from providing access to financial education and consolidating debts into one easy monthly payment to offering affordable loans to keep people out of the clutches of high-cost lenders. We are here to help, whatever the circumstances. We believe everyone should have access to affordable finance regardless of their financial situation. We know that being less stressed about money gives members more time to be able to do the things they most enjoy in life and is better for their overall emotional wellbeing.
