Objectives

Our non-religious non-political registered charity has worked within Manchester and Salford for 30 years. Our objects are to promote any charitable purposes including the preservation of health and relief of poverty distress and sickness in particular for the benefit of the aged, the homeless, the mentally ill or handicapped in Manchester.

Lifeshare has two sites in Manchester, one provides weekend breakfast, showers and clothing and monthly wellbeing clinic and a Christmas Project to adults over 18.

Our flagship Crisis Assessment Referral and Diversity Service (CARDS) advocates for local 16-25 year olds. We have tried and tested methods on the front line and are attuned to our communities. Clients trust us and their testimonies evidence our effectiveness. We hold two weekly drop-ins and 1:1 case work and accompany clients to appointments to promote physical and mental wellbeing, safe housing, financial stability, employment and rights. The CARDS project supports people of different backgrounds including nationality, ethnicity, sexuality etc. Clients are at risk of homelessness and sexual, psychological/ emotional, financial and gang exploitation. Some of our clients have left care or prison. They may also have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Some face such chronic mental health issues and trauma that they self-harm or injure or attempt suicide. Some are young parents or expecting. Most are not in Education Employment or Training. Many clients have severe, multiple and complex needs, short and long term.

Over 330 unique young people accessed our CARDS service.

Our CARDS Project has succeeded in the following areas:
Young people are able to access:

• Healthcare Services including mental health, addiction support, sexual health, physical health and dental health
• Housing information, understand process and agreements, sustain tenancy, help with preventing rent arrears and poor quality accommodation.
• Welfare/benefits information, apply and be assessed, avoid getting sanctioned and appeal if necessary.
• Budgeting and debt relief advice and information.
• Support for education training and job seeking/support.
