Futureversity believes all young people have the potential to be extraordinary. We are an award-winning youth-led charity, based in Tower Hamlets, East London. Since 1995, we have successfully delivered non-formal learning interventions in school holiday periods for over 160,000 young people.
Children and young people spend 25% of their time out of school – this time away from education can have disastrous effects, especially for the disadvantaged. Our mission is to open doors for young people through unconventional learning and innovative partnerships by making the best use of their free time in holiday periods.
Our aims are to: promote independent learning; raise achievement; promote racial tolerance and good community relations; increase access to educational opportunities through creative partnerships between statutory, voluntary, business and industry sectors; and involve young people in the organisation's development.
We work with young people between the ages of 10-25 during school holiday periods.
- We partner with businesses to give young people real life experience of the world of work through introductory courses, seminars and activities
- We run our summer programme made up of a huge range of short courses with the help of expert tutors
- We partner with schools and youth organisations to run Vacation Education, a 10 day multi-activity programme for 13-14 year olds
- We deliver volunteer schemes for young people in their areas encouraging them to take responsibility, use their initiative and gain leadership experience
