Freightliners is a small farm in an urban setting providing the opportunity for local individuals and groups to learn from and interact with the environment and each other through animal care, horticulture and sustainable practices. Its purpose is to provide an educational and recreational resource for the community, promoting social welfare and quality of life through a collaborative and inclusive community project. It hosts an estimated 40,000 visits a year including around 1800 pupils on guided school visits and a range of local community organisations. In addition, there are young people (including young people with disabilities, young people not in mainstream education and young offenders) and adults with disabilities (including long term mental health issues) taking part in farm programmes on a regular basis.The Farm works with local authorities, schools, businesses and voluntary organisations from across Islington and London to resource, plan and deliver activities which engage the local community particularly those most in need.
