Dost centre for young refugees and migrants
Our objectives
We provide activities so that young people (ages 13-19 years from anywhere in London, from a refugee or asylum seeking background or newly arrived migrants), can make new friendships, improve their English, stay active and healthy, see different places in the UK, meet and mix with young people and adults from diverse backgrounds and cultures and receive support with issues which may be affecting them, We also refer and support young people onto other programmes or to organisations that can support them to gain employment skills.
The young people we work with may have experienced many challenges and often arrive in the UK feeling alone, vulnerable, isolated and lost. They often don't have the support of their families or speak the language or understand the local culture; therefore they need somewhere where they feel safe, accepted and supported in order to be able to grow and develop.
Our activities
We run a busy, varied and popular Youth Programme, which includes Youth Club nights with lots of different sports, ESOL classes with English and homework support and many trips and residentials to see and experience new places and new activities and to provide the young people with positive memories and essential life skills.
